What is Machine Learning? A beginner's Definition

Machine Learning, as the name suggests is something that has to do with the way a machine learns to perform a specific or a set of tasks.

I read several introductory books and online articles, blogs, etc about machine learning and what I understood about the definition of Machine Learning is :

Machine Learning is the process of developing a computer algorithm and teaching it in such a way that the algorithm can start learning from its past experiences and can even predict the future outcomes based upon its past learning.

This is a very general and Lehman's definition of machine learning and is entirely my point of view of what this term actually mean.

I will keep updating this definition from time to time as and when I get more insight about Machine Learning and how things work.
